The term “staged photography” refers to a category in contemporary photography practice that concentrates on the storytelling aspect in art photography. Pictorial narrative is distilled into a stand-alone picture. The story being told is fragmental, the completion of the narrative is up to the viewer’s imagination.

In my degree project I tell an elaborate, multi-faceted imaginary story through the means of staged photography. I developed a series of photographs, each being a facet of the whole narrative while at the same time holding tension on its own.
My story takes place in the Swedish winter landscape, moving slowly into spring. It revolves around a small village and the inhabitants, figures and stories that populate it. Animals, houses and people have sinister intentions and are scheming shady undertakings, enduring empty corners and unidentified shadows.
Termen ”iscensatt fotografi” syftar på en kategori i den samtida fotografin som koncentrerar sig på konstfotografins berättande aspekt. Bildberättandet har destillerats ner till en enda fristående bild. Den berättelse som återges är fragmentarisk, det är upp till betraktarens fantasi att fullfölja berättandet.

I mitt examensprojekt berättar jag en detaljrik, mångfacetterad fantasihistoria med hjälp av iscensatt fotografi. Jag utvecklade en serie fotografier, där vart och ett är en facett i den fullständiga berättelsen, samtidigt som vart och ett bär på sin egen spänning.
Min berättelse utspelar sig i det svenska vinterlandskapet och rör sig långsamt mot våren. Det kretsar kring en liten by och de invånare, figurer och berättelser som befolkar den. Djur, hus och människor har ondskefulla avsikter och planerar skumma företag och uthärdar tomma hörn och oidentifierade skuggor.
