Keeping track of the Masters students’ degree projects is a wonderful experience. Every year they discover new questions and considerations to probe. This year there is no furniture designed for industrial mass production or room with explicit functions that we must think about but rather furniture that borders on the collectable and rooms for reflection.

There are rooms that tell us something and furniture that even when unused still remains an explicit part of the setting.

Rooms that are set in motion by images and images distorted by walls that are out of true. Dealing with and questioning everyday objects and situations to make the viewer reflect and perhaps arouse debate.
Can country areas losing their populations attract tourists? Can summer guests move into inflatable rooms in houses that now stand empty?

Our ways of life and how we form groups in which to live change all the time, but the floor plans of apartments have not altered very much. The nuclear family still provides the norm. The dream of a balcony in the city has resulted in a piece of furniture that offers a momentary feeling of privacy in a park. Fascination with the dovetail joints in log cabins has led to careful study that has turned them into a shelf that is both solid and flexible.

Excess and waste. We consume and we dispose and the rubbish heaps are growing, we sort our refuse for recycling. Can we use it as it is? A row of chairs poses this question and arouses other ideas.

Not everything is finished yet. It is with expectation and interest that we look forward to the examinations and this year’s Degree Exhibition.

A new wonderful group now long to meet the challenges of their profession.

Det är härligt att följa masterstudenternas slutprojekt, de hittar varje år nya frågor och funderingar att fördjupa sig i. I år är det inte några formgivna möbler för industriell massproduktion eller rum med tydlig funktion som väcker funderingar, det är snarare möbler i gränslandet till rariteter och rum att reflektera i.

Det är rum som berättar något och möbler som då de inte används förblir en tydlig del av rummet.

Rum som sätts i rörelse av bilder och bilder som förvrängs av sneda väggar.

Att beröra och att ifrågasätta vardagliga objekt och situationer och få betraktaren att reflektera och kanske skapa debatt.

Landsorten som avfolkas, hur kan den locka turister? Kan sommargästerna flytta in i egna uppblåsta rum inuti befintliga hus som står oanvända?

Vårt sätt att leva och bilda grupper att bo ihop med ändras hela tiden, men lägenhetsplaneringen har inte ändrats särskilt mycket. Kärnfamiljen bildar fortfarande norm. Drömmen om balkong i storstan har resulterat i en möbel som för en stund ger lite privat känsla i parken. Knuten i knuttimrade hus har fascinerat och noga studerats och blivit en hylla som både är bastant och flexibel.

Överflöd och skräp. Vi konsumerar och vi slänger och sopbergen växer, vi källsorterar för att återvinna. Kan vi använda det källsorterade rakt av? En rad stolar både ställer frågan och väcker andra tankar.

Allt är inte klart ännu. Det är med förväntan och spänning vi ser fram emot examinationer och årets vårutställning.

Ett nytt härligt gäng längtar efter yrkeslivets utmaningar.
