In the ‘Secular Surface’ project, Kristoffer Svenberg has worked as a missionary for Christianity in Sri Lanka. Within the experience, the interaction between various roles and their performative effects were important. Secular Surface discusses dominant global power structures and is a form of activism.
In the Konstfack Degree Exhibition, Kristoffer is displaying two video works as the result of substantial study. The video work in itself is an infiltration into a specific video culture connected to the type of mission being managed. The missionaries consist of a group of Christian surfers and the video work goes by the title Secular Surface “Surfing the Nations” and The Beauty Saloon/The Barber Shop.
